POEM: LIGHTNING

The garden caught on fire, yesterday

Struck by lightning, quick and stray

It spread from there into the forest

Across the fields that spread before us

Infernos danced on the countryside

Riding the winds into the tides

Engulfing forever in its mouth

East to West, North to South

In the flames the empire dies

And from the ashes the Light will rise

And shine upon a brand new land

From its temple in the sand.
