POEM: The Sun Slips Away

The sun slips away

And takes away its light

The stars replace the day

Before the fall of night

The moon climbs the hill

To claim its nightly throne

The apex of darkness to reveal

Its face as pale as bone

Day and night, the stars and moon

Heavenly bodies that sway

In celestial shadow’s black balloon

When the sun slips away.
