POEM: Letting Go is a Greater Love

We held hands limply

Said “I love you” simply

But they were just words

And a meaningless gesture

We knew it was absurd

Our feelings were conjecture

You walked on sand

I walked on fire

Your heart was air

Mine was of desire

We burned

We floated

We turned

We flew

I was deserted

And so were you

The shore was empty

Just like the sky

We stood stiffly

Watching it die

But neither of us

Was going to cry

We knew that letting go is a greater love.
